We will be sewing the Harriet Bra by Cloth Habit (28A - 45H bra size) or the Willowdale Bra from Cashmerette* (28C-54J). These is are great beginner patterns, because they offers support while still appearing delicate and beautiful. They have a 3 to 4 piece cup, which allows for good cup volume and scooped back, which is not only very comfortable to wear, but is also more supportive than a tapered back. These are great first bras to learn bra making techniques that you can then use to make many other styles of bras!
*Get 10% off from Cashmerette’s patterns when you sign up for Bra Camp!

BRA CAMP BREAKDOWN:
Day One (10am - 6pm):
We will start the day going over important things to understand to make a well-fitting bra- from understanding bra sizes to learning about different shaped underwires for different breast shapes and styles of bras.
Afterwards, the individual fitting begin. First, with an underwire fitting. Bella provides several different shaped underwires in all sizes to try on to figure out which size and shape is best for your breasts. Once your underwire is determined, Bella has sample cups in all sizes already sewn that you can try on to find your correct size. Once you know your underwire and cup size you will sew a toile (muslin) of the band to practice sewing techniques and to make sure the band fits properly.
Everyone will have the opportunity to have a one-on-one fitting with Bella. Together you will assess the fit and make the necessary modifications to your paper pattern. A fitting does require a certain amount of personal exposure (shirt and bra off), but they are completely private and done with the utmost care and respect. You may also assess the fit on your own with some guidance. Whatever makes you feel comfortable!
Day Two (10am - 6pm):
Day two begins with a demonstration on how modify your paper pattern and cut out your bra so that the lace is mirrored on both cups. The day is mainly is dedicated to sewing the final bra. Bella will teach you construction methods for achieving beautifully finished bra that looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside!
